Designer Spotlight: Vintage Filigree

When I find something that is so unique and one of a kind, I stop in my tracks. That is exactly what I did when the Vintage Filigree Etsy shop searching for vintage jewelry.

The necklace pictured above is 100% brass and is nickel free which means that even the MOST sensitive skins can wear this! The piece is called “Mystery Vines” and is “richly detailed vintage bronze patina brass filigrees and vines. Gorgeous aurora borealis crystal jewel (gorgeous BlueGreen shades). Suspended from an antique solid brass figaro chain.”

Each individual piece of jewelry is one of a kind and they don’t make repeats, which basically means that if you love something, then snatch it up quick!

Vintage Friligree is the result of a mother daughter collaboration who hand craft each and every piece of jewelry. To give a brief background, here is a snippet from their profile background information.

Influenced by my uncles’ work and an extensive study of jewelry design and fine arts, I started making my own jewelry and passing my knowledge on to my daughter. She started designing very intricate jewelry as far back as the early 80’s (I still keep a pair of Asymmetrical earrings she made for me back then). We’ve combined our skills and the result is Vintage Filigree ;)

These designers call their work “a touch of mystique and romance” alongside “brilliant colors, dreams, and imagination”. They have had over 25 years of experience in jewelry making.

Only created with the best materials, these exquisite jewels are made of new and old Czech glass, beads, and stones “brilliant Swarovski crystals, seed beads, fire polished beads and many other types of beads depending on each individual creation.”

The filigrees we use for our creations are stamped from brass and resemble fine lace work. They have been used for more than 100 years in the art of jewelry design. In fact you may see many of these filigree repousses, findings, stampings and embellishments on antique jewelry because our filigrees are vintage or reproductions made with the original antique dies which are still in service today and made by their original filigree manufacturers. The filigrees are then hand rendered and/or layered by us to encase our vintage/antique glass gems or designs. Therefore the end result is a timeless heirloom for yesterday, today and tomorrow; just like the type of beautiful jewelry you’d find in a grandmother’s jewelry box.”

To check out their Spring Collection visit their Old World Romance store. Other than that, here is a VERY TIME sneak peak into their jewelry up online now. Snatch it while it’s still there because these sell fast!
